Bathtub replacement costs involve more than the initial $500 or $600 you will spend on the purchase of a new tub. The labour involved to remove a tub is extensive and the need to renovate, once removed, will be necessary. It can be a very costly undertaking! A $3000 project cost is a conservative estimate for a bathtub replacement. To remove a tub, plumbing will need to be disconnected so you will need to pay a plumber. Tiles will have to be removed as they are affixed to the lip that runs around the perimeter of the tub, so you will need a tiling contractor. Will the new tub even fit in the same ‘footprint’ as your existing tub? If not, tub removal could lead to flooring changes. Quite often removal of a tub can lead to an entire bathroom renovation which can easily end up costing upwards of $10,000 and 4 – 5 weeks of your time.
So why go through all of the mess, time and expense because your bathtub’s finish has faded, has a few chips, or you just don’t like that pink or harvest gold tub anymore? Those green tiles with the little ducks that were so hot in the 80’s can be updated to a modern neutral colour!
Leaky, cracked shower pans (fibreglass or tile) can usually be repaired and resurfaced without ripping out and replacing. This will, again, save you time and money! We can even repair fibreglass pans that are cracked due to improper structural support during installation. We will properly support it, repair the crack and resurface the pan so that it is like new again!
Grout lines and silicone are nearly impossible to clean once they are stained or covered in mold and mildew. This type of aggravating maintenance can be completely avoided with our resurfacing process. Grout lines are sealed, gaps in corners where tiles meet are filled prior to resurfacing, so silicone is no longer needed! The new surface is sealed and totally non-porous. Now, cleaning efforts only need to focus on the surface which makes keeping your shower or tub surround looking beautiful and new so much easier!
